Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju is reportedly in talks for the female lead role in Yellamma, the upcoming film starring music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) in his acting debut. The project is being produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations.
Multiple Actresses Considered for Yellamma
Finding the right heroine for Yellamma has been a prolonged process for the filmmakers. The makers initially wanted Sai Pallavi to play the female lead opposite DSP. Subsequently, discussions were held with actress Keerthy Suresh for the same role.
A few days ago, reports emerged that the team was considering Mrunal Thakur for the female lead in Yellamma. Now, Mamitha Baiju‘s name has surfaced as the latest actress in talks for the project.
Mamitha Baiju’s Recent Work
Mamitha Baiju gained pan-South recognition with the Malayalam romantic comedy Premalu (2024), which performed well in Telugu and other dubbed versions. The actress recently signed on to play the female lead opposite Dhanush in his 54th film, directed by Vignesh Raja.
About Yellamma
Venu Yeldandi is directing Yellamma, which marks music composer DSP‘s debut as a lead actor. Apart from playing the protagonist, DSP will also compose the music for the film.
Produced by Dil Raju, the project is currently in the pre-production stage. The team is focused on finalizing the cast and other technical crew before commencing filming. An official announcement about the female lead is expected soon.
